Ambition Institute joins Accountability Commission to support improvement in the school-led system

“I was pleased to be able to join NAHT’s conversation with the Secretary of State and the Minister for the School System yesterday. 

“England’s education system has the potential to be the best in the world, but in order to get there we need to get our approach to school improvement right. 

“Many schools and trusts up and down the country are achieving amazing things, offering their pupils the best start in life. This is especially inspiring when school leaders and their teams are undertaking systematic improvement to turn around their schools’ prospects, sometimes after years of underperformance. 

“These schools show that improvement – even transformation – is possible. But we need to support the school-led system to embrace collaboration as the engine for improvement.

“This kind of system generosity is crucial, and it underpins both the Peer Review Framework and the second phase of the NAHT Accountability Commission, launching today. I am thrilled that Ambition Institute is playing such an integral role in this work, as well as embedding it in our own programmes – most notably our Trust Diagnostic led by Sir David Carter, which takes peer review to a trust-to-trust level. 

“I look forward to continuing to work with NAHT, the Department for Education and the wider system to make sure we get this right for trusts, schools and the pupils they serve.”
