Introducing three more founding partners for Teacher Training

April 4, 2024

We are pleased to welcome three new founding partners on our inaugural Teacher Training programme.

Our new partners are:

  • The Arbib Education Trust, a multi academy trust with one secondary school and two primary schools in Langley, Berkshire.
  • North West London Teaching School Hub, the Teaching School Hub for the three London boroughs of Brent, Barnet and Enfield, based at Wembley High Technology College.
  • North West SHARES SCITT, a provider of Primary Teacher Training with 24 partner schools spread across rural West Lancashire, Urban Skelmersdale, and Coastal Southport.

Each partner brings crucial local knowledge and strong relationships in their communities and regions, and experience of delivering or hosting teacher training.

Together, we aspire to bring even more ambitious and committed teachers into the schools that need them the most and provide the best possible start to a fulfilling career in education.

They will be joining these previously announced founding partners on our inaugural Teacher Training programme:

  • Academy Transformation Trust
  • Active Learning Trust
  • Blue Kite Academy Trust
  • Cumbria Education Trust
  • Dixons Academies Trust
  • Eden Academy Trust
  • Forward as One
  • Learning in Harmony Trust
  • Lime Trust
  • London District East Teaching School Hub
  • North West SCITT
  • Pathfinder Schools
  • Shaw Education Trust
  • Teach Kent and Sussex
  • The Sigma Trust

As founding partners, they will help us develop our new training offer, contributing their expertise and experience so that trainee teachers can have an impact in their classrooms from the outset.

Linda Blackmore, Initial Teacher Training Coordinator at The Arbib Education Trust, said: “We are excited to be working together with Ambition Institute to tackle the teacher recruitment crisis. The partnership is a good fit; we’re both passionate about helping people to grow their teaching careers. There is a lot of talent within the trust and in our local communities. We are providing opportunities for aspiring teachers to receive high-quality, evidence-backed training right at the start of their education careers, so they can go on to inspire future generations.”

Jeremy Evans, Co-CEO at Wembley Multi-Academy Trust, said: “This unique partnership to recruit and train new teachers is a natural progression for us. It follows tremendously positive feedback on our track record of working with Ambition Institute on professional development for existing teachers. Our mantra is “achievement for all”, and this programme will benefit staff and pupils not just across our trust, but across the whole North West London area.”

“We are committed to future-proofing teaching as a profession through recruiting and developing exceptional teachers. Ambition Institute shares that vision. Teachers who experience this high-quality, research-backed training will go on to have the most positive impact on children’s lives.”

Ian Eaton, Chair of North West SCITT, said: “We believe in training teachers using the most up-to-date research, so that teachers are equipped with the knowledge they need to make a real difference to children’s lives. Over the past decade, we have proudly witnessed our trainees progress in their teaching carers, into curriculum leaders and even headteachers. These new teachers will be the future leaders of schools, shaping the outcomes of children and leaving a lasting impact on their local communities. Through our Teacher Training programme, we will be championing inclusivity, both for our trainees and for pupils in their future classrooms. Our focus is to meet the needs of all children, all the time.”

Applications are open for the first cohort of trainee teachers, which will begin in September 2024.
